1.What is the main difference between High-Speed (HS) PLA and standard PLA?

The primary difference is the Melt Flow Index (MFI). HS-PLA is chemically modified to have a lower viscosity when melted, allowing it to flow up to 500% faster through the nozzle without causing under-extrusion.

2.Does high-speed printing require higher temperatures?

Yes. Because the filament spends significantly less time in the "melt zone" at 500 mm/s, you often need to increase the nozzle temperature by 20°C to 30°C compared to standard settings to ensure the plastic is fully molten before it exits the nozzle.

3.How do I know if my filament has "absorbed" moisture?

You will hear popping or hissing sounds at the nozzle during printing. Visually, you’ll see "zits," stringing, or a rough surface finish on your parts. This is caused by water trapped in the plastic turning into steam.

4.Should I dry my filament even if it's brand new?

Ideally, yes. Many filaments are water-cooled during manufacturing and may not be perfectly dry when vacuum-sealed. Drying new filament for 4–6 hours can eliminate 90% of "first-layer" frustration

5.What is the shelf life of a spool of filament?

If stored in a cool, dry place with desiccant, most filaments last 1–2 years. PLA is the most stable, while nylon and TPU can degrade faster if exposed to UV light or high humidity.
